【Signature Event】Inclusive Para Sports Day Promoting the Equality and Inclusion for People with Disabilities Building a Barrier-free Society Together

For the second year, Rainbow Foundation sponsored the “Inclusive Para Sports Day” co-organized by Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Noah’s Ark Hong Kong, which was successfully held at Ma Wan Event Centre, aiming to facilitate equality and inclusion of people with disabilities. By offering a diverse range of para sports, the event not only served as a warm up for the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in the coming October, but also encouraged students with disabilities, their families and caretakers to enjoy the pleasure of sports amid the subsiding of the pandemic.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Thomas Kwok, Senior Director of Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Ltd., Mrs. Jenny Fung, President of Hong Kong Paralympic Committee, Mr. So Wa Wai, a 6-time Paralympic gold medalist, Ms. Joanna Yip, Assistant General Manager of Noah’s Ark Hong Kong, and principals and student representatives of four special schools were invited as the officiating guests. They acted as torchbearers passing the electronic torches to one another, embodying the Paralympic values of “Determination, Equality, Inspiration and Courage”, and spreading the message of “Opportunities are in the hands of the disabled and able-bodied as they join together.”

After the ceremony, about 150 students and their families from special schools experienced various para sports, such as Boccia, Special Olympics Mini-Tennis, Special Olympics Golf, Indoor Rowing and Para Karate respectively, and received commemorative medals as an honor of the athlete. Finally, all participants also visited Noah’s Ark and enjoyed lunch buffet to complete the meaningful journey.
