【Signature Camp】"Robotics Challenge Camp - Space Exploration" Integrating AI and Hydrogen Power to Spark STREAM Creativity

2025/07/17-19

Every summer, we collaborate with the teaching team led by Dr. Tim Woo, Associate Professor of Engineering Education from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), to host a three-day technology day camp for 50 upper primary students from grassroots families.

This year's camp introduced students to Artificial Intelligence (AI), encouraged them to apply creative and fun mathematics in crafting robotic gadgets such as wind turbines and space robotic arm, and, for the first time, included a "Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars" building session, allowing them to learn how clean energy technology can help reduce carbon emissions.

On the final day, the students teamed up to build robotic cars and competed in the exciting "Interstellar Robotic Football Challenge". This intense competition was filled with cheers and applause, vividly showcasing the knowledge and team spirit they had developed over the three days! At the graduation ceremony, Dr. Tim Woo inspired the campers to embrace the spirit of STREAM education, which emphasizes learning by hands-on experiments, being open to new ideas, and viewing mistakes as opportunities for growth and improvement.

Special thanks to this year's sponsor, Swashes HK, for generously providing disinfectant wet tissues to bring thoughtful protection to all students!
