【Signature Event】The Ark's Little Doctor Community Activity Intergenerational Exchange to Understand Parkinson’s Patients

2025/09/27

The annual "The Ark's Little Doctor" community activity cares for Parkinson’s disease this year, inviting nearly 100 participants, including the elderly and their caregivers from the Hong Kong Parkinson's Disease Association, children volunteers aged 4-8 with parents from "The Ark's Little Doctor" program, and volunteers from SHKP Christian Fellowship, to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together at Ma Wan Park Noah’s Ark.

The event fostered intergenerational connections and promoted respect and the spirit of helping others. During the sharing session, patients with Parkinson’s disease ("Parkinson’s Friends") present daily stories of intergenerational interaction in a "live radio drama" format, helping participants understand the main symptoms of Parkinson’s and their daily challenges. The "Parkinson’s Friends" also shared their real-life experiences, calling for understanding and acceptance , and offering insights on how caregivers can offer support.

Following this, trainers from Ark Life Education House guided the participants in newly emerged sports "Kubb" and "Devastation Ball". These activities challenged strategic thinking and enhanced physical coordination. At the end, "The Ark's Little Doctor" volunteers received certificates in recognition of their care and companionship for the elderly, putting the spirit of intergenerational harmony into practice.
