【ESG Event】2026 "Ma Wan Go Green! " Carnival Hong Kong Ma Wan Park Demonstrates Environmental Commitment with Cross-Sector Collaboration Co-creating a Greener Future

The annual "Ma Wan Go Green!" Carnival, co-organized by Hong Kong Ma Wan Park and its ESG strategic partner Rainbow Foundation, was successfully held at "Ma Wan 1868" - an arts-inspired island community developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties. With "Well-being of Body, Mind and Spirit" as its core theme, the event invited around 500 participants from low-income families, persons with disabilities and children with special educational needs. Through green workshops and eco-guided tours, they explored Ma Wan’s history, culture and achievements in ecological conservation; nurtured their body, mind and spirit in nature; strengthened family harmony, and learned to practice a green and low‑carbon lifestyle.
The event ceremony was graced by a number of guests, including Dr. Jeff Sze, JP, Under Secretary for Education; Dr. Moses Cheng, GBM, GBS, OBE, JP, Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Hong Kong Ma Wan Park; Mr. Qi Wei, Director of the Social Organizations Liaison Department, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Tu Haiming, Deputy Director of the Committee for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Affairs, The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Kevin Fan, MH, Member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Executive Vice Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong-Shanghai Associations; Dr. Jane Lee, President of Our Hong Kong Foundation; Dr. Yau Yat, Executive Director of Academy of Chinese Studies; Mrs. Linda Ma, Founder and Chairperson of Citywide Renewal; Dr. Rico Wong, Executive Director of The Green Earth; and Mr. Timothy Ma, MH, JP, Members of the Board of Directors, Hong Kong Ma Wan Park.
In his speech, Dr. Jeff Sze commended Hong Kong Ma Wan Park for collaborating with various sectors to promote environmental conservation. He also stressed that the Education Bureau places great importance on advancing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to nurture talent for the nation’s "dual carbon" goals through diversified programs. Dr. Moses Cheng remarked that Hong Kong Ma Wan Park will continue to expand cross-sector collaboration and strengthen environmental education. Dr. Rico Wong called on everyone to start with simple green habits, such as waste reduction at source and clean recycling, to jointly safeguard the future of our planet.
The event successfully rallied cross-sector support. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to ALVA HOTEL BY ROYAL, Watsons Water and Kwoon Chung Bus for their generous sponsorship of prizes and transport arrangements. About 60 "Sustainability Youth Ambassadors" from Hong Kong Baptist University and The Education University of Hong Kong also volunteered, joining forces with merchants of “Ma Wan 1868” to run interactive green booths and workshops, putting environmental protection and ESG principles into practice together.
